Well project 66 is now basically done, we will be trying new products on it here and there so it will probably never be actually "done". The car looks great and we stuck to our original plan of making a nice driver, in fact we have been driving it everywhere we can already (even to the local parade where it won 1st for best classic car)! We re-used many parts that were still good and every piece of sheetmetal is reproduction because we all know the original tooling and NOS stuff fits and we have all heard the horror stories about the repro stuff, this way we can see for ourselves whether or not what we are selling is up to par. The quarter skin fit great it took almost no work to get it on. The fenders also fit very well, they are just a little different around the headlight door but at the cowl area and the windshield the fit was good (some repro fenders fit very poorly here). The short floors and the toeboard fit good as did the cowl side patches. We are convinced that we are choosing the right brands of repro- metal, these parts look great on our driver. We found that in this case it was easier for us to replace a lot of hardware rather than hunt the old stuff back up considering most of it was wrong or missing. We learned a ton and found that on big key to an efficient job is organization (this was learned via the hind sight is 20/20 method). The next project should go a bit smoother as we plan to look over our notes and learn from our mistakes. Also as much as we hate it the work area will be kept a lot cleaner this time around 30% of our time was spent looking for stuff. The next car on the books will be the painters 64&1/2, we owe a ton of grunt work to re-pay the huge amount of hours he put in on our car. the car is completely stock right now with the original 170 cid and generator. The front end is mostly missing due to a accident by a previous owner and it seems the car became a "project" by a few owners since and we may have a bit of re-fixing to do. Hey the price was right (initially)! We would like to thank everyone that helped us out on this from babysitting to sanding we could never have gotten it done this quickly with out the help!
